When you book this tour with us, you will:

SAMPLE seasonal fruits, olives from local growers, cheese, spices, bell pepper paste.

FOLLOW in the footsteps of the very first adventurous tourists visiting Turkey in the 1960’s. We will go to a food shop which later became the meeting and ‘message centre’ of hippies travelling East!

LEARN the most important elements of our food culture by visiting the area’s farmers’ market, interacting with locals talking about food. Shop like every Turkish family does. Choose the vegetables that will later become your meal.

STROLL through the cobble-stoned streets of the old town listening to food stories of bygone times.

WALK into a colourful and authentic 17th century bazaar with a wide selection of shops offering good quality items from spices to hamam textiles. You may want to beat the bustling crowds of the Grand Bazaar and come back to this market as it is a good and cheaper alternative in the heart of the old town.

VISIT a local bakery to procure the pide bread you will have with your meal after the culinary workshop.

TASTE a delicious soup which is at the heart of every multi-coursed Turkish meal, typical olive oil dishes, a marvellous main course, a classical dessert, a cup of turkish tea or foamy turkish coffee, local wine or cherry juice or ayran -yoghurt drink- if you prefer.

CROSS Turkish cooking off your to do list by taking a course from qualified experts, you will truly enjoy your home-food cooking lesson from real chefs -no amateur cooks!

FEAST at our restaurant which is an oasis of calm amid the touristic hustle and bustle of Sultanahmet.

START planning the next food-walk or the menu of the next cooking class you will take with Cooking Alaturka 🙂
